Temporary Residence Card as INVESIONIST and their dependents.
In order to renew your residency card you must request an appointment which (JAROS) can help you with the request for the appointment to be able to renew.
Requirements
On the day of the appointment you must present:
- Residence card or DIMEX in good condition.
- You must present the proof of Social Security (CCSS) where it is demonstrated that the social security is in force.
- You must provide the payment receipt for the renewal, where the full name of the person is indicated, in case the name is too long you must request a letter to the bank where you justify the reason why the name is not complete, in the receipt of the deposit. The amount to be paid is indicated by the Costa Rican government and must be paid in COLONES at the Banco de Costa Rica.
- The proof of the investment made in the country must be attached, whether it is a personal investment or registered under a corporation. It is very important to emphasize that if you obtained your residency as an investor by purchasing a property, the taxes must be up to date before renewing your DIMEX.
- The investor residency card can be renewed up to three months BEFORE its expiration date.
NOTE: For each month of delay in the renewal of your residency document, you must additionally pay the equivalent in colones of three dollars (US$3) per month. If your ID card has expired for more than three months, at the time of renewal, you must present, together with the requirements indicated above, a letter of justification indicating the reason why you have not renewed your DIMEX. This letter must have the signature authenticated by a lawyer.
If your cédula was stolen or lost, you must present a notarized affidavit made by a lawyer, (JAROS) helps you with all the legal documentation.
If you have been out of the country for more than one year, at the time of renewing your DIMEX as an investor you must present the Criminal Record from the country where you were. (If you are in Costa Rica and need help to apply for your Police Record without leaving Costa Rica contact us (JAROS CR) and we will be glad to help you obtain your police record apostilled or authenticated), it will be indispensable to present the criminal record if you have been out of Costa Rica for more than one year as stipulated (Article 216 of the Immigration and Foreigners Regulation of Costa Rica).
