What is an exit permit?

The exit permit for minors is an authorization granted by their parents or legal guardian to leave Costa Rica. Without this permit, Costa Rican minors and legal residents in Costa Rica will not be able to leave the country.

Who needs an exit permit?

a) Costa Ricans, even if they have dual nationality.
b) Foreigners who have a legal permanence under the migratory categories of permanent resident, temporary resident and special categories such as students, refugees, asylum seekers and stateless persons.
